Pakistan Welfare Association (P.W.A)  is a registered charity serving the community  since 1964, in order to help and support the community of Slough. It intends to meet the needs of the community by liaising with the statutory organisations and the community.Providing diverse services including a link with local government departments, primary care trust, and police, and education, Urdu language classes for children, Youth forum and link with Pakistan High Commission.
To run these activities PWA recently has acquired a new centre for forty years lease from local authority.

Mission Statement
Help the community to meet its needs, liaise between the community, the Government and Non-Governmental Organisations.’  

PWA acts as bridge to promote the issues and provide following services  to the community:

Information & Advice Drop in service  provide application forms and most of these give advice & information about the related forms,  NICOP Surgery held,  , Enquiries over the phone,  Application status check enquiry.  Translation Service: Marriage, divorce, birth, death certificate etc Legal advice by appointment: Immigration/Legal, Power of attorney, nationality issues, language requirement, Life in U.K test  Advice on Social and Benefits Housing and council tax benefits,  Incapacity benefit, complaints with council.

Unemployment among the Pakistani community is increasing as compared to other BME Communities for the  past few years. Education and Training: PWA provides support to children from 5 to 16 years of age, by delivering homework and after school support.  PWA has focused its attention on promoting parental responsibilities to support their children achieve better grades at school.  To address under-achievement amongst the Pakistani community, which is well documented in Local Education Authority statistics and other sources, PWA has formed an Education Committee, which comprises of people who are from the education field, professionals and those who have a passion to support the community at large.  For further information click  Education & Training.

Health awareness/promotion: We are helping the Local Authority by promoting their activities/programs through arranging meetings, seminars, having session, organising different sports activities for children, youth and elderly, which are leading

Three Community Champion Nomination by East Berkshire College (EBC) through PWA resources for these three LCC are utilised in PWA. Ladies  Welfare and Social gathering  Luncheon Club for the elderly men &  women  For further info click  Community & Culture

Policing/crime/ Safe and Secure environment:The slough Police Consultative Group Meeting PWA is also part of Slough Youth Offending Team (SYOT) Steering Group. The youth inclusion support panel Steering group meetingProblem with children on around this area

Community tensions/ Liaising with other Community Groups to relieve tension.Meetings  with Sikh , Somali  and other  group. Building Bridges with Communities 

Promoting Cultural awareness: Bringing communities together as well as keeping alive the traditional routes and culture Pakistan Independence Day, Puthari Mefil, Mafil Music Quadi Azam Day, Ghazal & Geet Program. Thousands of people attended these programmes and are very well attended.

 Music Classes:   Every Sunday 6-8 pm.   It has regular attendance and many people are interested.

Play & Sports Activities: Developed activities to energise the children, Youth, adults and elderly – social activities, planned events, regularly running summer play Scheme from last three years for Age: 5-8 & 9-13.
